Social & Peer Support Groups

Connection-focused care

Our social and peer support groups are dedicated to assisting like-minded individuals build connections with one another. Held in various locations throughout Rockhampton, or online via Zoom, these groups provide a safe space for people to meet, connect, and build friendships and support networks.

While connection-building is always the primary focus, our social and peer support groups do differ slightly in their nature and intention, allowing us to provide a flexible level of support and guidance as needed.

Our social groups are centred around activities such as a coffee catchup, walk and talk, park playdate, or craft session designed to break the ice and provide entertainment while connecting with fellow community members.

Peer support groups are focused on providing a safe and supportive environment for individuals who share similar experiences to find and connect with one another, allowing friendships to be built and support networks to expand.

Most of our social and peer support groups are tailored to an identified age-group or population, allowing like-minded people to meet one another. However, we tend to keep our target age-groups and populations as broad as possible, to allow greater opportunities for participation.

Inclusively exclusive

Each group is carefully designed to balance inclusivity and exclusivity; meaning, we aim to facilitate as many individuals as possible, without compromising on your access to tailored, adaptable, person-centred care. Each of our social and peer support groups are unique, and as such, the maximum number of people we can facilitate, as well as the fees for each group, will be dependent on a variety of factors outlined in the description.

Intentional support

Despite the wide variety of social and peer support groups available, you can expect to receive flexible, adapted and professional guidance from a registered psychologist, activities and group discussions centred around connection-building, a safe, accepting and supportive environment, a thoughtfully chosen location, and mindfully selected icebreakers, conversation starters and prompts.
