Our Story

From seeds to blooms

After falling in love with developing and delivering group programs in private practice, our founder and Registered Psychologist, Angela, decided to nurture this love by growing Inner Bloom Psychology Services.

Inner Bloom was built to empower others and nurture personal growth through a range of services. Focusing on safety, learning, and connection; it's our goal to help you build awareness, understanding, acceptance, and compassion towards yourself, so that you can feel confident within yourself.

Growing up in regional and rural Central QLD, Angela understands just how limited services are outside of major cities. This is why we make it our mission at Inner Bloom to provide various delivery modalities.

With groups delivered in-person and via Zoom, online courses available on-demand, and a range of downloadable resources and content - we're aiming to maximise accessibility to reach a broader and more diverse range of individuals and communities.

Providing inclusive, trauma informed and neurodiverse affirming services is something that sits close to Angela's heart. Being founded by a neurodivergent woman with a range of lived experiences, it's our vision to deliver services, content and resources that are clinical and highly professional in nature, while still feeling relatable, compassionate, realistic, and deeply human at heart.

Our Values

Here at Inner Bloom, our values are more than just a guide to how we choose to show up; they describe everything that we embody deep to our core. We fully embrace these values to deliver exceptional services to every individual who places their trust in us to support them.

It's our mission to make sure that from the very first moment, you're being met with professional, compassionate, person-centred care that is both highly clinical and deeply human.

Accessibility

We strive to make therapeutic support more accessible, by offering a range of delivery modalities, including our in-person and online groups, on-demand online courses, and downloadable resources that are thoughtfully developed and can be adapted to meet the needs of each unique group of individuals. We further embody our commitment to accessibility by keeping our prices below the APS suggested fee schedule, offering flexible payment options, and ensuring that eligible clients can access services with NDIS funding and Medicare rebates.

Our Focus

All services and products that we offer here at Inner Bloom are based on the areas of practice that we're most dedicated to. We believe in going above and beyond our ethical obligation to simply practice within our scope, and channel our energy into creating services, products and content that we are truly passionate about.

We're dedicated to helping you with:

  • Building your knowledge to deepen your understanding of self and others, and develop a greater level of self-awareness;

  • Developing a range of skills and strategies to manage and reduce anxiety, allowing you to navigate challenges with confidence;

  • Understanding Autism and ADHD, how they can present, the strengths and superpowers they create, and building skills to navigate challenges;

  • Navigating the challenges and celebrating the strengths associated with being a parent or carer;

  • Expanding your support system and growing connections with others by creating opportunities to meet with fellow community members;

  • Learning to identify, prevent, manage and recover from burnout - whether it's occupational, lifestyle-related or neurodivergent burnout;

  • Developing assertive communication and boundary-setting skills - empowering you to voice your needs, self-advocate, embrace authenticity and build autonomy;

  • Successfully navigate change and life transitions by identifying and breaking down barriers, developing coping skills, and building resilience;

  • Rediscovering yourself and empowering you to live a life of peace, freedom, purpose and meaning after trauma or abuse;

  • Entering and maintaining healthy, fulfilling relationships by empowering you to identify healthy vs unhealthy dynamics, set and maintain boundaries, navigate triggers, and build confidence to understand your worth.

Meet Angela Newton

Registered Psychologist

B Psych (Hons), MAPS

As a neurodivergent woman, I crave the chaos, flexibility and autonomy that comes from creativity and novelty; but also need the structure of routines to remain grounded and thrive.

As a psychologist, I desire the ability to
stretch beyond the basic structures of evidence-based services; I want to deliver creative, relatable and educational services that I'm completely and utterly passionate about.

Throughout my career, I've been incredibly fortunate to receive opportunities to develop various groups, workshops, webinars and training programs both for clients and other professionals - allowing me to find perfect harmony between my desire for flexibility and need for structure to unlock new strengths.

These opportunities also allowed me to discover that by channeling my energy into creating programs and content that I'm deeply passionate about, I could pave the path to a career that truly ignites my soul!

As a late diagnosed ADHD'er, I can understand how it feels to re-lens your experiences and heal after years of anxiety, depression, chronic stress, meltdowns and burnout, all accompanied by awful self-talk due to a lack of self-understanding, self-acceptance and self-compassion. I believe in the power of education, therapy and healing, because I've experienced the benefits of it firsthand.

My early life experiences inspired me to become a psychologist, and I utilise my years of professional study, training and practice along with those experiences to offer my clients more than just evidence-based interventions. I'm proud to admit that I love my job, and I'm so passionate about the work that I do because the areas of practice I'm most focused in are also the areas I hold closest to my heart.

I wholeheartedly believe in the power of connection, acceptance, understanding, and showing up authentically in the therapy space. Ensuring that my clients feel safe, held, and heard is always my main focus in therapy. This is because progress can't happen without feeling safe, held and heard; and you can't feel safe, held or heard without connection, acceptance, understanding or authenticity.

I pride myself on offering services that are trauma informed, culturally sensitive and neurodiverse affirming. I intentionally avoid over planning or heavily scripting my services to provide more space for collaboration, greater opportunities for autonomy, and to allow room for highly clinical content to be delivered in a more relaxed, relatable, organic and flexible manner.

During the week, you'll likely find me either working on groups and projects for Inner Bloom, or working at Redlands Psychologists where I see clients both in my office and via Telehealth for individual therapy.

When I'm not working, you'll likely find me curled up with a romantacy book, head banging to some heavy metal, moving my body, soaking up some sun at the beach, connecting with my friends and family, working on my latest (short-lived) craft project or special interest hobby, cooking up a storm in the kitchen, or living my best life by indulging in lots of delicious food.
